Rabab Ghazoul and Ramez Ghazoul in a performative conversation

Rabab Ghazoul will combine performative readings with conversation, in a collaborative piece with her father Ramez Ghazoul. The ‘travelogue’ takes excerpts from Ramez Ghazoul’s email archive referencing conflicts in the Middle East and their mis-representation on an international scale as a departure point – combining readings of his correspondence with close friends with those to international broadcasting corporations. Through this dialogue, core questions underlying Rabab Ghazoul’s practice such as the relationship of wider political frameworks upon the personal and the daily and what notions of ‘community’, ‘democracy’ or â€˜belonging’ might mean today, are explored in what is the nascent stage of a new project for the artist.
